The oil tanker-turned-floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit has reached the Danish seaport in which the European branch of Modern American Recycling Services will dismantle her.
The ship's most recent employment was with Shell Brazil, where the 356,400-deadweight FPSO served the Bijupirá and Salema oil fields from August 2003 to June 2024. Fluminense was capable of processing 81k barrels of oil and compressing 75m ft3 of natural gas per day.
The Malmö shipyard of Kockums constructed the 390-metre-long Fluminense in 1974. Her dismantling will be the largest ever ship scrapping project carried out in the Port of Frederikshavn.
