China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Weihai) has entrusted the Turku-headquartered company with delivering the complete basic and detail design of the two ferries, which will be chartered by the Attica Group.
The multi-fuel, methanol-ready ro-paxes will be equipped with a PTI/PTO variable speed shaft generator setup. They will also have the 'battery notation,' allowing for future use of battery propulsion. The Attica Group has mentioned several other green solutions their E-Flexers will feature: photovoltaics, a battery storage system, an onshore power supply connector, LED lights, a scrubber system, intelligent air conditioning, a bulb rudder, and optimised hull covered by drag-reducing paint.
The 239.7 by 27.8 metres newbuilds are scheduled for delivery in April and August 2027 and will sail in the Adriatic Sea, each offering room for 1,500 passengers (across 256 cabins, including four with a balcony) and 3,320 lane metres for cargo.
The Attica Group has also secured an option for two additional E-Flexers.
Ten E-Flexers have been delivered to date.
