The sister ship of Wallenius Marine's Future Way, which took her first shipment of Volkswagens from Europe to the US in September 2024, also began her charter for the German car manufacturer.
The 200 by 37 metres Way Forward offers 6,500 CEUs of capacity. Both car carriers of the Sleipner class were designed by Wallenius Marine and KNUD E. HANSEN, and built by CIMC Raffles in China.
Way Forward and Future Way feature several eco-solutions, including optimised hull design, a shaft generator of active front end type (said to cut up to 10% of emissions), multi-fuel engines, and connectors for drawing shore electricity while berthed. Also, when fully loaded, the two car carriers don't need ballast water.
