After a charter gig for Irish Ferries (as James Joyce between Dublin and Holyhead), the ferry has returned to the fleet of Tallink and will, as of 9 February 2025, sail between Kapellskär and Paldiski.
Before entering service, the ro-pax, offering room for 2,080 passengers and 2,000 lane metres for vehicles, will undergo renewal and preparatory work at Turku Repair Yard in the Port of Naantali.
Once deployed, Star will replace Regal Star (2,087 lm) and Sailor (1,400 lm; the two will remain on standby).
"We are pleased to launch Star, one of our largest cargo capacity vessels, on the route between Estonia and Sweden. Many of our guests will remember Star well from its previous operations. Returning from Ireland, Star also offers a convenient travel option for car passengers between Paldiski and Kapellskär as well as increases the cargo transport capacity between Estonia and Sweden," commented Paavo Nõgene, CEO of Tallink Grupp.
He also underscored, "We particularly recommend Star as a comfortable alternative for those passengers travelling by car who prefer to avoid driving through the capitals of Estonia or Sweden. On certain weekdays, it will even be possible to travel between the two countries twice a day, including daytime crossings."
