Sirius Shipping's first in a series of two 15,000-tonne deadweight, 147 by 22 metres, Ice Class 1A, 17,500 m³ of carrying capacity tankers has been delivered by China Merchants Industry Yangzhou Dingheng Shipyard.
The hybrid newbuild features a battery pack of 420kWh (for peak shaving and blackout prevention) and a 1,000kW shore power system (for in-port load- and unloading).
Marinus will be chartered by VAROPreem for transporting renewable fuels and feedstock.
Meanwhile, the Chinese shipbuilders from Dingheng have cut the first steel for the second of four vessels in Sirius Shipping's 8K series (119.9 by 19.4 m, also IC 1A, 7,999-dwt, 9,700 m³).
