After developing Taulov Dry Port, currently 300,000 m² of warehouses and logistics facilities in south-eastern Jutland, the partners now aim at bringing Fyn Dry Port to life in the Municipality of Middelfart.
Construction works could kick off in 2029, adding some 300,000 m² of logistics capacity on the Danish island of Funen.
"The ambition to lay the groundwork for a dry port in Middelfart is a natural continuation of the success we are seeing in Taulov, which has contributed positively to the local area around Fredericia while also serving as a sound investment for PFA's customers," said Peter Morgan, Head of Real Estate at PFA.
Christian Herskind, Chairman of the Board at Associated Danish Ports (ADP), also commented, "ADP is in a sound position because we have followed a clear strategic direction for several years. The results show it works, and we are therefore continuing the development aimed at ensuring long-term growth and value creation. Dry ports play a central role in this. Experience from Taulov shows that, together with strong partners, we can create attractive solutions that deliver significant value for customers, municipalities, and society alike. Consequently, the development in Middelfart fits naturally into ADP's long-term strategy and future ambitions."
CEO of ADP, Rune D. Rasmussen, added, "ADP is constantly evolving, which requires extra effort from owners, the board, executive management, and all employees. We have built a strong organisation that maintains and develops operations while also being capable of handling major development projects. We are therefore pleased to have entered into a development agreement with PFA, with the ambition of establishing a dry port on Funen - a region where we see significant interest from the business community."
"Fyn Dry Port represents a unique opportunity to create a hub for business development in Middelfart that supports an already strong business community. With the development agreement for a dry port, we are taking a major step towards attracting new companies, investments, and jobs to the Municipality of Middelfart. I am very proud that, across municipal boundaries, we can build upon the experience gained from Taulov Dry Port; experience that stands to have a significant impact on growth and development in Ejby and the surrounding area, as well as in the Municipality of Middelfart, for many years to come," summed up Anders Møllegård, Mayor of the Municipality of Middelfart.
In the meantime, Taulov Dry Port will grow with an additional 220,000 m² following the Hertugens Kvarter (The Duke's Quarter) project, which will, however, exhaust the available room for growth.
