The Swedish shipowner has commissioned the Chinese Avic Dingheng shipyard to construct what will be the eight vessel in a series of 17,999 dwt-big oil products and chemical tankers.
Once commissioned in Q1 2021, the new ship will join the fleet of the Gothia Tanker Alliance, comprising, apart from Furetank, also Älvtank and Thunk Tankers.
However, since Fure Vinga, the first tanker of the Alliance's liquefied natural gas-powered fleet, has been sold, the parties will dispose of seven vessels (Älvtank will receive a newbuild in mid-September, while Furetank in Q4 2020).
