RZD Logistics, Sinotrans, and Far East Land Bridge (FELB) have launched a new train container service that runs between the Chinese Shenyang and the Austrian Enns via the border crossing in Zabaykalsk.
United Transport and Logistics Company - Eurasian Rail Alliance (UTLC ERA) - a JV between Belarusian, Kazakh, and Russian railways - has reduced tariffs, even up to 50%, for the transportation of empty 40- and 45-foot general purpose containers to China.
The combined service, launched in August 2019 in partnership with Modul and Global Ports, saw its first eastbound train dispatched from St. Petersburg on 28 March.
The multimodal route connects the ports of Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, and Kobe with Hamburg and Duisburg via the Chinese Port of Taiciang and then along the New Silk Road through Xi'an, Alashankou, Nur-Sultan, and Brest/Małaszewicze.
The company will supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanks, each with a capacity of 685 m3, 500 m3/hour bunkering stations, and systems for automation, emergency shutdown, and gas detection.
The Finnish company will supply all the main equipment for the also Finnish shipping company whose ro-los are being constructed at the Chinese WuHu Shipyard.
