The company will add a 150k m2-big distribution centre to its existing facility located at Kluizendok in the Port of Ghent, part of the Flemish/Belgian-Dutch North Sea Port.
The building permit for the €80m investment is expected to be obtained by spring 2021. Afterwards, the distribution centre will be commissioned in stages throughout one a half years.
The Belgian retailers X2O Bathrooms, Overstock Home, and Overstock Garden will enter into a long-term lease for the new facility.
WDP’s logistics park, situated next to a container terminal, has access to the sea, inland water-, road, and railways.
"This investment and long-term commitment show confidence in our port. North Sea Port is pleased to partner with WDP as it increases its focus on developing logistics activities and sustainable multimodal transport in the years to come," Daan Schalck, CEO, North Sea Port, commented.
