The Finnish seaport's wheeled freight traffic was almost evenly split between imports and exports - 63,977 (+18.4% year-on-year) and 62,057 (+18% yoy) ro-ro cargo units, respectively.
Some 3.5m lane metres are annually filled on-board the ferries and ro-ros calling to the seaport in Kapellskär, which translates into approximately 194k cargo units (counting 18 m per one truck/trailer).
While the handling of both dry bulk and general cargo rose, by 10% year-on-year to 46.07mt and by 18.8% yoy to 2.56mt, respectively, the turnover of liquid bulk contracted by 9.8% yoy - down to 53.97mt.
To counter the negative effects of the coronavirus pandemic and Brexit, the Danish seaport has introduced support initiatives for its clients, including deferrals of payment for the warehousing of goods and extending the area rent fee deadline.
Whereas the turnover of liquid bulk contracted by 10.4% year-on-year, down to 416.05mt, the handling of 'dry' goods (bulk & general cargo) rose by 7.6% yoy, up to 404.72mt.
