Gotland Alandia Cruises has contracted the Swedish Nowhere Networks to provide Internet access on board the ship, which will offer intra-Baltic cruises as of the coming spring.
The ex-Birka Stockholm 1,800-traveller-capacity cruise ship already had its Internet provided by Nowhere Networks when sailing in the colours of Birka Cruises.
Susanne Kaarnimo-Knight, CEO of Gotland Alandia Cruises, underlined:
Nowhere Networks was a natural choice for us as they've done an excellent job supplying a fantastic communications solution for Destination Gotland on its routes to and from Visby. High-speed Internet connectivity is an important part of the cruise experience we want to provide our passengers with on Birka Gotland. Everything is installed and ready to go; now we are impatiently waiting for the launch in March.
The Gotland Company-Viking Line JV will see its Birka Gotland departing from Stockholm's Stadsgårdskajen to the Port of Mariehamn on 20 March 2024.
Subsequently, the cruiser will ply each evening between the two destinations, also visiting Visby from time to time (the first trip to the island of Gotland is scheduled for 30 March 2024).
Gotland Alandia Cruises also shared that Birka Gotland would call the Baltic ports of Härnösand, Riga, Rønne, and Ystad throughout the year.
