A number of Latvian, Norwegian, and Swedish companies have formed CIS Liepāja, a joint project management team to scrutinise the set-up of a power-to-X complex in the Port of Liepāja.
The Liepāja Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and CIS Liepāja have concluded a two-year reservation contract for the potential construction site. The 1,000MW plant, capable of producing 150 thousand tonnes of hydrogen yearly, will feature a sea terminal. The total investment is estimated to be around €1.0 billion.
Liepāja SEZ has also mentioned that the Dutch Fokker Next Gen intends to establish a hydrogen-powered aircraft assembly plant at the Liepāja Airport.
