China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu) has contracted the ship design experts for the design and engineering of Wallenius Wilhelmsen's up-sized pure car & truck carriers (PCTC).
The contract includes six of the 14 vessels currently on order with the Chinese shipbuilders, which will be increased in size from 9,300 to approximately 12,100 CEUs.
Deltamarin will provide comprehensive design services, covering both basic and detail design, with a focus on optimising fuel efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
WW's 12k-CEU vessels, featuring dual-fuel engines capable of running on methanol, will be the world's largest PCTCs once delivered in late 2027 (while the first 'Shapers' will be handed over to their Norwegian-Swedish owners in H2 2026).
