The shipping company from the Danish Skagen has received the first (in a series of five) tanker of the Hybrid Solution Plus class, with a deadweight of 15,000 and 14 segregations.
Tern Vik features four sails, a methanol-ready engine, a hybrid battery system, and a shore power connector.
The last of her sister ships is scheduled for delivery, by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Yangzhou) Dingheng, in 2027.
The tanker will enter a long-term charter for the Helsinki-headquartered North European Oil Trade (NEOT). "As an active player in maritime transportation, particularly in the Baltic Sea and the Norwegian coastal area, we take extra pride in investing in our fleet and moving towards more sustainable maritime transportation. The environmental impact of shipping operations is significantly influenced by the condition and age of ships, so for years, we have consistently invested in our fleet," the Finnish company said in a press release.
