The Swedish port noted a new all-time high in total freight turnover for the fourth time in a row, along with scoring new records in the number of handled trucks & trailers and pax cars, as well as served passengers.
The company saw the biggest increase across its services taking care of the Asia-Europe trade lane, up by 14.5% year-on-year to a total of 1,302,305 TEUs.
Despite a drop by 28% year-on-year down to 4.12mt in the turnover of liquid bulk, the Latvian port pulled off to increase its total freight handling in 2018.
Both the turnover of general cargo and dry bulk rose, up by 1.8% and 20.3% to 11.20mt and 2.24mt, respectively, on the results from the corresponding period of 2017.
Containerised freight traffic totalled 23.73mt (+13.5% year-on-year) in the reported period, accounting for almost two-thirds of St. Petersburg's overall general cargo turnover (+12.1% yoy to 37.80mt).
In terms of tonnage, the Russian seaport took care of nearly 21.62mt of containerised freight in the January-October 2018 period, that's 11.7% atop the result from the previous year.
Both the turnover of liquids and general cargo noted a drop over this year's first 10 months, by 6.6% year-on-year and by 18.9% yoy to 49.43mt and 2.16mt, respectively.
