The German company handling biofuels will start its operations in the Swedish seaport at the beginning of 2025, following a long-term terminal area & quay access lease deal with the Ports of Halland.
The Brüning Group will handle biofuels coming from a wide range of residual & waste products from the forestry industry, including woodchips, fuelwood, pellets, and bark. These will be offered to Swedish energy and heat plants to replace mineral oil and gas.
"The partnership with the Brüning Group strengthens our position within the biofuel segment and creates additional opportunities within energy fuel management. We see great potential in expanding our activities in this area, which will create new growth opportunities for both the port and the energy sector in the region," said Jonas Svensson, Business Manager, the Ports of Halland.
Business Development Director for the Brüning Group in Scandinavia, Perry Mayr, added, "The geographic location and professional collaboration with the Ports of Halland meet all the criteria the Brüning Group has been looking for. Varberg becomes a perfect puzzle piece in our Scandinavian expansion. A terminal in the port creates multiple possibilities to import or export biofuel, providing our customers with the services they need. We look forward to a long-term partnership with the Ports of Halland, the regional heat & power plants and industry in Western Sweden."
