The Lithuanian Ministry of Transport and Communications has earmarked €30m to develop the Kaunas Intermodal Terminal (KIT), aiming to increase its yearly handling capacity threefold from the current 55k cargo transport units.
Together with its partners LDZ Cargo, LTG Cargo, HHLA TK Estonia, and Kaunas Intermodal Terminal, the Estonian Operail has dispatched the first Muuga-Kaunas train.
The company's trains have started connecting METRANS' terminal in Ostrava with the Deepwater Container Terminal Gdańsk (including a stopover in Dąbrowa Górnicza in southwestern Poland).
