The company has initiated its Energy Efficiency and Emission Reduction Investment Programme, under which four Breeze class ro-ros will grow in size.
The vessels Finnsky, Finnsun, Finntide, and Finnwave will be cut in order to place an insert which will increase their cargo capacity by nearly 30% (currently, each ship offers 3,291 lane metres).
The first ship to be converted left Finnlines' fleet for the shipyard on September 25th, where she'll spend approx. nine weeks. One vessel at a time will undergo the modification.
The capacities of the following services will be affected during the lengthening of the vessels: Uusikaupunki/Turku-Travemünde, Hanko-Rostock, and Helsinki-Rostock/Aarhus.
