While the turnover of liquid bulk advanced by 9.7% year-on-year to a total of 735.5k, the handling of dry bulk decreased by 23.6% yoy down to 1.11mt and that of general cargo by 4.2% yoy to 848.6kt.
Transport performance decreased as well, noting a drop of 4.6% year-on-year down to 621.8bt-km (-5.2% yoy to 789.3bt-km if empty wagon runs are included).
Grain turnover shot up by 99.6% year-on-year over 2020's first quarter, up to 524.1kt, followed by liquid bulk the handling of which rose by 7.7% yoy to a total of 1.24mt.
The overall increase was driven by a larger volume of liquid bulk (+10.6% year-on-year up to 2.16mt) as well as wheeled (ro-ro) cargo (+4.6% yoy to 1.33mt) passing through the Estonian port's quays.
The turnover of general cargo rose by 3.8% year-on-year to 10.48mt, liquid bulk by 29.7% yoy to 2.67mt, whereas the handling of dry bulk dropped by 23.6% yoy down to 1.61mt.
Apart from a tiny batch of dry bulk (up by 33.9% year-on-year to 75kt), ferry cargo traffic, totalling 3.10mt (-14.4% yoy), accounted for the majority of the Swedish port's cargo turnover.
While the turnover of general cargo (4.54mt) and liquid bulk (147.4kt) rose by symbolic 1.2% and 1.3% year-on-year, respectively, dry bulk shot up by 225% yoy to a total of 1.56mt.
